Transfer of lease.

Hi all,

We are currently three months into a 36 month lease and have decided to go travelling for a few years.

House is going on the market etc etc.

The decision was initiated by my OH deciding that her years in the corporate rat race were done and handing in her notice, unfortunately that was the Monday after our Audi A5 40 TFSi S Line convertible was delivered.



Now we can pay half the remaining payments 33 x £390 (give or take) and hand the car back, or possibly transfer the lease to an another willing party. It's a pretty good deal, fully maintained and we may offer a financial incentive to get it over the line and reduce the monthlies for the new lease holder.

So, has anyone experience of doing this previously? Unlikely given our sudden change of plans.

If not, could anyone please suggest contacts or firms who may be able to assist?

Hi, Did you get anywhere with this? I have a lex lease I am also looking to end early.

I'm also looking to end my lease early due to a drop in household income due to the coronavirus. Has anyone had any joy in transferring a lease midterm? Is that even possible. Mine's a Golf GTi with ALD Automotive. They've quoted me 1500 quid to end early and that's 6 month's worth of payments.

Ask the lease company, they are the only people who can tell you if it's permitted or not. Then go from there.

Just out of interest. Whats the details of the GTI. Colour, Auto, DCC ?

3 door white manual GTi performance 245. New in August last year and only done 2k miles. 246 a month. I'll check with the lease company if transfer is allowed.

Thanks, pretty different to what I was hoping. I was thinking Black/Grey Auto (poss manual) with DCC..

I'd possibly be happy to take it off your hands. What is the contracted mileage?

Contract was 12000 miles over 2 years so 10,000 left until August 2021

I’m still waiting to hear back from the leasing company to see if transfer is possible. They’re not taking calls right now. ASAP would be good but practically it’s not going to be possible until this lockdown is over.

Unfortunately ALD won't let me transfer the lease. The best they can do is to give me a 3 month payment holiday which just kicks the can down the road.

Shame, I've been wanting a GTI for a while
