When buying of dealer should you get an inspection?

Dealers must sell cars in road worthy condition and people pay a premium just to buy a dealership car. However, if you was to get a pre purchase inspection they could use this to argue that the car was fully working and in roadworthy condition.

But as we all know issues on cars can be well hidden and a 30 min inspection can only do so much.

What is your protocol when buynig from a dealer?

Not that I do buy from main dealers, but if I did,I would still pay to have an independant inspection done by RAC etc, just for the peace of mind.

I doubt the dealer would like it, but tough sh*t.

Couldn't they then argue that the car was roadworthy.. when thigns can be missed.

Your statutory rights are unaffected by an inspection.

RAC inspections are basically exactly the same ‘100+ point check’ etc that the dealer will carry out anyway so it’s unlikely that it would find much that a dealer hasn’t already found and rectified/classed as reasonable wear anyway.

All dealers have their own limits on tyres/brakes etc so even if your RAC inspection says the tyres are on 4mm and the dealer says their minimum is 3.5mm, the best you’ll get is some money off/tyres and TBH you could just measure them yourself.

Check the car over, ask to see the dealers report (I will happily show anyone who asks, it’s not some hidden sacred text) and make sure you’re happy with the warranty. Sorted

As far as I know any issues that arise within 6 months of purchasing from a dealer should be put right.

I've never brought from a dealer, how do warranties from dealerships work ( this wont be from a main dealer.)
