Best way to insure second car for few months
Discussion
I've two cars at the moment my new one and old one, I've got the old one on temp monthly insurance with Direct Line but they said I can only do it for 3 months then I have to take a full policy on it which is coming up soon. I'm going to sell the old car but not for a month or two, I tried one of the monthly insurance companies and they wanted £254 to insure it for a month (Its a 2002 A3 1.8T sport), a years insurance is approx. £450, I don't really want to fork out for a years policy then get refund, is there anyone who does reasonable monthly pay as you go policies. Anyone want to buy a 2002 A3 1.8T sport 12 months MOT, 76.5k miles ?

Short term insurance will always be really expensive.
What's stopping you taking out a years insurance, pay monthly and cancel when you've sold the car.
Check what the fee is, normally around £55 but it will still be cheaper than the short term insurance.

Yeah that looks the best way didn't realise it's flat fee these days to cancel Direct Line want £49 to cancel will go with that.
Cheers
Yes, short term cover is always expensive - mainly because your insurer knows you don't have much choice!
I bought a BMW Z4MC in December and Churchill were charging me nearly £50 a month (for up to 3 months) on the BMW Z4 3.0Si Coupe it was replacing. Still I sold it on Saturday so I'll get a bit of a refund for the current month, and come renewal I'll probably go elsewhere - yet again!
Churchill and Direct Line are both underwritten by UK Insurance, so effectively the same provider anyway - regardless of what Winston says on the TV adverts!
