What do folks think?? Narrowed my choice to these. Boring thread I know, but nice to know what others think? Taking into account its it's a daily driver, only car, and future values do matter to me? Cheers all.....

Very nice choice.

If it was me I’d drive both and then decide.

Both are great cars.

Thank you, I've been lucky enough to have a few 911s before so don't need to drive that. Have driven the Merc and now posted this thread as really struggled to decide. My head says 911, my heart says the mad merc??

AMG GT, fantastic car, i had to cancel the order of mine when i moved back from Germany!

Porsche is just ... "dull" ... i am sure it is fantastic to drive but it isn't a GT.

It would be an easier decision if the Merc came as a manual. It's not the be all and end all, but I do prefer a manual. However, that merc box was bloody good. Hmmm ??

For me it would be the Merc, just look at it!

I'm sure you would love either though and I think you should test drive both and make your mind up, I suspect a test drive will tell you all you need to know

It would be the AMG all day long the Porsche is a great car but the GT is epic & feels a bit more special more of the time, it's a personal opinion but having driven a few examples of both the GT is more of an event but the Porsche is the better drivers car.

Driven a few of both, AMG for me, looks more special/exotic and rare to see on the road, great engine and exhaust note and prefer the interior.
A non GT Porsche is 'just' a Porsche, competent car no doubt but not something I could get excited by.

Happy shopping!

Cheers,

Chris

Tough call to be honest.
Got to love the manual Porsche for the drive and involvement. That being said, aside from the Turbo's - your Carreras aren't really keeping pace with a lot of other sports cars these days. That Merc is mad fast and looks the tits.

Good luck

Wise words, and although I use a motorcycle for the warmer parts of the year, this will be my sole transport for the rest of time, so probably about 8k a year in the car. You reckon the Merc will be as good a daily as the Porch ??
I actually suspect the Porsche would be better as a daily being sensible about it but I still think the overall experience of the Mercedes would edge it for me, it's the usuall head vs heart thing, upto a point, they are both brilliant cars in their own right

Thanks, and again it appears to be a head v heart thing, will decide over the weekend.
PS. That Carrera is a twin turbo, they all are now. wink

How do you reckon future values will go for the bonkers Merc ?? Will they go the way of the SL AMG's and be 10k cars down the road, or will they hold like 911's and never dip down to end up the same value as a regular family car ?? I had 997's including a manual Turbo before, and always managed to get out only a few quid either side of where I started. While its not top of my concern list, it is at least on the list.....
