Track car

Thinking about buying a track car to have some fun in on the weekends. I don't want to spend much in fact I want I want to keep the budget as small as possible. Any idea's what to go for as a cheap fun car track car? I've been looking at Renault clio 172s.

Default answer is usually a Clio 172/182 or an MX-5.

I went the MX-5 route but there's plenty of both on track days.
