Folks,
I am idly considering a 3 L TDI A5. They seem very good value for money for the kit and performance, looking at an earlier model between 5 to 7 grand. Probably auto as I am lazy.
Currently have a V 70 D5. Do like it, and it was cheap as chips with lovely comfy seats and an auto. Never does much more than 37-40mpg. I am however getting slightly fed up with its legginess and slightly baggy handling. Commute to work is will be 50 miles per day along a crap a road.
Any experience of real world MPG and performance on these? Any major things to look out for? I can spot a few ‘bruvved’ ones that I’d steer well clear of!

Its a nice engine, if going for an auto the quattros have a tiptroinc box, the 2wd has the multitronic. Gearbox oil changes are 40k.
The engine doesn't seem to suffer with as many issues as the 2.0 does, mpg is around 40mpg on a run. Check tyres as the rears cut out on the inside edges, suspension is weak and the shock absorbers leak and fail. The facelift is the one to go for. Make sure the wheels are genuine and not fakes.
