Looking for a new car that would be reliable and can achieve around 30mpg+ for up to £4k.

From a quick look on auto trader etc. These are what's on the shortlist so far:
Mini r50 or r56 non s
Suzuki swift
Honda civic mk8
Volvo c30

I know the civic is likely to be reliable but what about the others? Any other suggestions are welcome

Virtually anything by Honda or Toyota.

Nissan Micra (not very desirable though).

MX5 (yes really!)
