Looking for a cheap runaround car = doing my head in!
Discussion
Looking for something really cheap to run, low tax and insurance but something that won't break down every 5 minutes. Mainly for my misses popping to the shops etc with a little one. Might occasionally jump on the motorway but very rarely.
So far I've looked at:
Corsa 1.2 - 2010, 4 owners, 48k miles = £2800.
Hyundai i10 - 2014, 2 previous owners, 42k miles = £4400.
Peugeot 107 - 2012, 4 previous owners, 48k miles = £3500.
Budget is as cheap as possible but below 6k.
Any opinions on above or what else to look at? Not too bothered about 0-60 times!
Thanks

Cheap as chips. 107/C1/Aygo but a 12 reg one is well overpriced at 3500. It's 1K overpriced
That's where I'm struggling, needs to be a 5 door and they seem few and far between where I am unless I travel up country. The only thing that puts me off these, reading up the clutches are pretty weak.. is that true?
Thanks.
Going to view the 2010 1.2 corsa tomorrow, should be a decent little runaround if I can get it down to 2.5k even if it is really slow?

Had an additional MOT in August 2019 (sold last?)
Previous MOT was not due until April 2020
We've got a 2010 Yaris that does exactly what you're after. We had a 2008 one previously that had done 140k miles with utter reliability so when that got driven into and written off we just got another. The post 2009 ones have a sixth gear which makes them much better on the motorway - better on fuel at normal cruising speeds than our Volvo D5. Really well put together cars that feel a lot more solid than other cars of the same size IMO.
Have a similar situation requirement but already have the car a W169 A class. A bit like the Jazz very spacious inside. If you have a rear facing child seat then other small hatches may make the front seat unusable. I had a 66 Fiesta too and once isofix base in rear the front seat passenger would have zero keg room.
The thing is all modern small hatches are pretty much as reliable as one another so get her something with nice spec, do your checks & you won't go far wrong.

When it comes to Clio's the Initiale spec is the pick of the bunch but they're rare.

Thanks for all those links, that'll keep me busy.
Didn't get the chance to test drive a Yaris today but went and looked at the Corsa 1.2 and the chap was a bit of a knobhead. Insisted he drove the car and not me even though my insurance covers me and generally acted like he was trying to hide something.
Search continues but wouldn't mind looking at a yaris 1.3.
Thanks again for all the input, not going to rush into anything but still keen to get this out the way with sooner rather than later.
