Afternoon all,

Starting to seriously consider an early F-Type V6 and looking for opinions and advice around the following

- V6 vs V6S. The 'S' has an extra 40bhp, however I will likely map either car anyway and so the end result will be the same. What else does the S bring? I believe it has an LSD, but anything else in terms of more kit included as standard etc?

- Reliability? Common issues to look out for?

- Were there any significant improvements in 2014/2015? Budget allows newest to be 2015 in reality.

- General driving dynamic? I test drove one a while back but can never get the full picture of a car in a 30 minute test drive

& Anything else worth knowing!

Are you going for a manual then?

Either or. Manual seem to be in short supply but if the right car came up with an auto box the. I wouldn’t hesitate. Current M135i has the ZF 8 Speed and it has changed my attitude on the whole gearbox debate somewhat...

I see. To me at least the only reason for going with a V6 is because of the manual. Otherwise might as well go for the V8, since they have the same engine, just with blocked off cylinders. Since the V6 and V8 engines are the same size and probably very close to same weight too, the manual box is the only real attraction, for me.

I'm exactly the same as you and I'd always prefer the V8 but they only come with the auto. So a V6S manual really interests me, because I love the shape and in a sporty car my preference is 3 pedals.
