Porsche 911 hunt
Discussion
Hey All,
I have recently moved from sunny Australia to unsunny Glasgow and in the process sold my 996 911 with the plan of getting another car here. The options are narrowed down to a 996 turbo manual or a 997.2 (pdk or manual) with the plan of taking back to Aus after using it for a few years to run around europe. Been keeping an eye on what is listed and probably missed a couple of cars which may have fit the bill. One annoying thing here is that i dont have a garage/workshop so not buying a car which needs work.
I did see a low mileage Cat C car 997.2 C4S for a good price, the big concern is the Cat C. Called the trade seller and they only know when (at ~18 months old) it had the damage, not what it was. They noted i could try HPI to see if could find the insurance company, does not seem to be listed when i got that report just who complied the car post repairs.
The car is down near Canterbury and was looking to see if there are any good indies for Porsche there who could do a PPI and give it a really good looking over as the car cannot have any structural/sill damage for me to be able to take it back. Any recommendations of Indies around Canterbury?
Thanks,
Taffy

I would steer clear of a Cat C without a properly documented repair. Especially if it was written off at 18 months old when it would still have been worth quite a bit.
Plenty more fish in the sea.
Very true, the black C4 PDK has a huge spec on it and the white car C2 manual both tick the boxes for only a few K more. The C4S let me have enough left over in the budget to also hunt down a 356 kit... but no point getting a car which could have a very expensive issue post shipping around the world.Plenty more fish in the sea.
Some decent indies round where you are..
I used Peter McAnna at Motor tune in Shotts and he was brilliant.
Sure there is one in Glasgow as well, George Morrison.
Appreciate you are looking at a car in Canterbury. I live near you and got a car from Chichester, had someone (many moons ago, Peter Morgan) look at it and he did a thorough inspection that highlighted some points thst I used to knock some money off.

Is the name of the company now as I believe he has retired.
The drive back up the country was boring, but so worth it just to heat tyres on the A93 eventually.....
