I think you can add damage on their site when valuing your car? For a general idea at least.

If you do contact them just be prepared to get bombarded with e-mails from them that have no unsubscribe option!

I sold a car last month for £1,400 more than they offered and I still can't get rid of them.

As much as they can. Whatever they say to begin with over the phone or via their website will be reduced when they see the car.

WBAC is a feed for British Car Auctions whose customers are mostly car dealers. BCA have to make a bit and the dealer has to make a bit. Not much left for the vendor.

We decided to give them a try again recently when looking to sell my daughters car.

Gave an honest description of the car on their website but the assessor decided to knock some more money off again anyway for the same minor faults I had already described,
so in hindsight I would probably have been better off not listing any faults and just letting them figure it out

this meant the price was far lower than anyone else had offered and nearly £700 lower than the online quote from them,
the car was a 2015 Vw UP, so not some obscure model that would be hard to shift

Tried Evans Halshaw who I've used in the past and who in my experience have always easily beat WBAC's offer,
they came in at £300 more than WBAC and also don't charge any transaction fees.

the best price we were offered turned out to be from the VW dealer we had ordered her new car from.

I'm not trying to put you off, but I would definitely get a few quotes as there's plenty places happy to make you an offer.

From my experience working on the software for a large competitor it's about £60 per wheel

I took a VW Passat there once and despite him saying that he could not find any fault with it, he still knocked 600 quid off by supposedly phoning up a dealer while I was there who said that was the best price.

That's almost unbelievable - especially considering that WBAC are in fact BCA Auctions and the WBAC business is used for them to get a ready supply of stock through the auctions

yeah that doesnt seem right to me either. My nephew works for WBAC and i am working for a large competitor (going live soon) and this isnt how it works. I suspect the WBAC agent called his branch or area manager who insisted on the price decrease.

I didn’t describe the damage first- figured I’d let them do their own homework. I got hit down £1k but managed to get back £700 from that when the chap rang the ‘regional manager’.

Nobody else wanted a cat D so I thought this was a result, problem was I left my Fleetwood Mac Rumours album in the CD player and that’s always pissed me off!
