Buying a clocked car
Discussion
Hey, I'm very new to the motoring world. I have been looking for a new car and found one i liked. It's a private sale so i did my own HPI check the seller has listed the car having 70k on the clock however the car was recorded having 20k on the clock on 21/08/09 and then on the 25/08/09 it only had 3.6k on the clock this was recorded by the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association and has steadily increased since then with no further discrepancy's. Should i totally avoid the car or would you recommend using the knowledge to get a further discount?
Its most likely a typo.
Can you check all old MOT's to see if they tally: https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/
You an also check the service book to see if they tally (not sure if you've already done this).
It seems that many mechanics have problems noting mileage correctly!

The Website only dates the MOT's back to 2011 i also noticed on the website that the car has a outstanding recall from the 4/3/20 what does that mean? Can you check all old MOT's to see if they tally: https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/

What was the 3 MOT? If the first was 20k, 2nd was 3.6k...
The recall means there is a small issue with that car which the manufacturer wants to resolve for free. If you take to any main dealer garage they will do it. It's a good thing that they acknowledge the recall instead of ignoring it.

It might be easier just to post the reg number.

The Reg is T5 SAO. The next mileage was recorded by the manufacturer 13/05/10 at 5.5kWhat was the 3 MOT? If the first was 20k, 2nd was 3.6k...
