Mercedes B class, just how good/bad are they?
Discussion
Hi All,
the OH wants a Mercedes B class as on paper they tick all the boxes for what we need.
However, I can't really find any conclusive reviews on them, except that the auto's are a bit risky.
Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with them that they would care to share?
TIA.
Spence

Yep, I had one for 3 years and was really pleased with it.
It took us (me, wife & 2 year old) on 2 trips from Scotland to France (Loire & Dordogne) without missing a beat. Almost, there was an issue with a ground pin in the ECU connector.
I could fit a tumble drier in the back without dropping the seats. Was reasonably good on fuel, about 38-40 real mpgs.
Looked as fresh as the day I bought it when I traded it in.
The only thing that surprised me was it went through a set of front tyres every year.
Good car though, I'd have another.

A bit carp imho, generally bought by those with champagne tastes & lemonade money who then p*ss & moan that the cost of servicing is considerably more than what they paid on their last car (usually a Zafira). Or they're a p*ss stained ex-motability car with every panel dented & creased & an interiour you wouldn't want to run a black light over.
Or maybe I'm just a bitter & twisted former M-B employee who likes to generalise lol !

We have a 3 year old B200 Petrol AMG with a manual gearbox.
Bought it new on PCP and we’ve decided to pay the ballon and keep it. It must be good as my wife always changes at 3 years. It’s not amazing to drive, we have the M135i for that, but it’s very comfortable and can carry 5 adults easily.
It’s been very reliable, it’s had 2 services and front tires in 40k. Only complaint is the front window demister, which only works at max temperature so you bake with it running.
Given the long long list of things she doesn’t like about the M135i and the fact we’ve kept it, it’s a good car.
