So need advice.. desperately in need of a car as got burned quite badly but my last purchase.. they saw me coming a mile away and sold me a lemon !

I know nothing about cars other than you drive them 😬

I’ve got a special needs child and cannot be without a car.. so I’ve got 2000, I don’t care about gadgets etc I’m quite happy with a boring standard car that’s going to be reliable and the engine won’t blow up !!

I’ve found near me a Toyota Corolla verso 2ltr diesel 07 plate that’s in my price range but I’ve been told that Diesel engines are bad news for older cars ? Any advice on that?

Any advice is appreciated as I’ve lost a few grand on my car and this is literally the only money I’ve got left !

Finance is not an option as I am debt free and want to keep it that way after hard work getting here !

How many miles do you do annually, if it's under 12k a year & lots of short journeys then you don't need a diesel old or new.

I'd say look for a petrol, look for something like these local to you also see if you can find someone with a bit of mechanical knowledge to come with you.

If you can't then when you go to look at the car make sure you can see recent receipts (not hand written ones) as these are a better indication of how the cars been looked after recently.

Also check to see when the cambelt is due to be changed as this can be a cost that you may not have accounted for.

Honda frv could be a shout, nice drive and Honda reliability too. Only thing is it’s a petrol but doesn’t seem like it’s much of a gas guzzler
