Just came across this car for the first time recently and really like it and considering to buy it. Is there any common issues or faults that would make you stay away from it? Cheers

It depends what year there are some serious issues with the twin charged models.

They are the twincharged engine which drinks oil and then goes bang. A shame as quite a smart looking car.

It's actually a brilliant engine, the 1.4 twin charger engine butthe risk is just too high,

What about getting 3rd party car warranty alongside it?

The issues that occur are expensive to fix so it's unlikely the claim limits will cover it even if they don't find a way of wiggling out of it.

Some owners who bought cars new had issues getting VW to accept liability under the manufacturer warranty.

Research, which shows the 1.4 Tsi turbo supercharged engine to have won the international engine of the year 1.0-1.4L category from 2006-2011?

Vw have made millions of these engines and have a service schedule/list of specific parts eg the spark plugs which yes if you neglect them or buy cheap /wrong spec will cause problems.

Look on auto trader for various examples of Golfs, polos, ibizas, fabias with well over 100k/nearly 15years old so it can't possibly be a engine guaranteed to fail.

Ah it’s getting frustrating every car I seem to find nice has some sort of a engine issue , This Seat, BMW 120i, Alfa 1.4TB
