Hi all,

I've been looking for another diesel and I just need an opinion on which one to buy within my budget.

The first one is a seat Leon 1.9tdi ALH engine I believe

The second option is a yaris D4D

Either of these two any good or shall I move on and find something else?

Thanks.

I'm usually a big fan of the MK1 Yaris as they are pretty bullet proof mechanically, chain cam etc. They can be pretty grotty underneath and the example you posted is a bit of a dog at a glance

The Leon looks marginally tidier and probably a bit comfier and more refined.

Shed budget for me is finding something really clean and taking a gamble, if it breaks then you can walk away.

So, for me it'd be a Yaris, just not that one.

Having had a Seat for the last 3 years, I'd say get the Yaris!

My wife's D4D was sold after 80000 miles and 11 years. It needed nothing other than routine servicing on all that time. Not even a bulb. Amazing. Little or no sign of wear. Recommended!

The 1.9 TDI PD unit just keeps going and going and is remarkably efficient.

There is a very good reason why so many Taxi drivers ran them taking them up to 450-600k miles.

Yep the engine 1.9tdi was great. It was just little niggly things. Wish I'd bought the Golf instead rather than the Seat.

Why?

Engine is weaker. Both are similar in size. One vastly more reliable and efficient job done. We are talking bangers here so that surely wins.
