I was looking at an early 2005 Classic Car magazine - so 15 years ago.

And a near mint 88E Scirocco for £1500 done 60,000 miles

And nearly bought a 355 for £32,995

I watched a 2010 episode of Wheeler Dealers yesterday when Mike bought an H plate Magenta Sierra Sapphire Cosworth for £4,500 - that wouldn't happen now!

And earlier in the week I watched a 2009 episode when he got an E36 M3 Cabriolet for £4,500.

Then remembered that I sold a 1978 MK2 Escort RS2000 in 1984 for about £2,500.

I always loved the BMW Z3MC, but prices have gone mad now.

But there is always the option of the Z4M Coupe - I bought one in December on 76K miles for less than £15K and I think it is much better looking than the Z3MC, but that's obviously a personal thing.

I sold an immaculate very low mileage widetrack Impreza sti PPP (with various other Prodrive goodies on it) 7 years ago for £8k... chancers are asking near on double that now for lesser examples with higher miles.

Remember seeing a stunning yellow Integrale evo for sale locally about 10 years ago for £11k.

About 5 years ago my mate had a MK1 Focus RS, in fact it was build number 3, the lowest on the road. He sold it for 9k. I believe it changed hands a couple of years ago for 18k, and will only go up.

Not in the same league as some others here, but it's still food for thought!

I also remember looking at Porsche 964 RS at £30-40k..

Decided I couldn't live with LHD even for an occasional use car.

Over here you can still find plenty of good 190e for around that price or a few hundred more if you look. So they have sky rocketed in the UK?

Apologies as this is 25 years ago, not 5/10, but I picked up an old copy of Autocar yesterday from the mid 90's and in the back casually in and amongst the other ads was one for a 1973 2.7 RS 911.....£29,995!
