£25k - sporty. Nothing out there

Evening all,

I have £25k to spend on something special; but there is nothing. I mean nothing!!

What I’ve found;

AMV8 = high mileage bottom of the market.

Maserati GT = plenty of 4.2’s but this isn’t of interest to me. A 4.7S would be high mileage and a colour combo I’d struggle with.

911 C2S = can only get a Gen1 which I’m okay with although would obvious prefer a Gen2. All high milers or low spec / wrong wheels.

M3 e92Comp = had a e92 before and only paid £16k. For an upgrade with the options I want you’re looking at £22k - £24£ and I think I’d resent paying this.

C63 - Lack of LSD on most cars annoys me. Don’t know how it would feel over an M3 which I’ve always viewed as the better car.

M3 F8X - Only just scraping through at £25k and that would be for a leggy early car without spec.

Resale value is a consideration so don’t want to be loosing loads of money. (Haven’t lost on 10cars I’ve bought and sold appart from a FFRR).

What other cars have I not considered?

You don't specify age, or number of doors. For BMW, it doesn't have to be an M3, how about an M6?

No real practicality requirement.

Age. Obviously the newer the better but then I’m looking at 08 Astons.

If an M6 it would have to be a Gran Coupe and have a light interior colour but good shout. Hadn’t considered these

I'd probably look to save another £5k as would put you in R8, GT 4.7S, Aston Rapide, Gen 2 997 territory but for £25k.

£25k will buy an Evora, presuming an Elise/Exige are too extreme given the cars you’ve mentioned?

Blimey, I say that-I’ve just checked and the only one available for £25k is a pretty high mileage example!

Most owners want to hold onto them but they are an excellent all rounder

Regardless of just which car you fancy surely under current circumstances it's worth holding fire for 6 months or so and then seeing just what your £25k might get you?

Problem is, I was in the same position 5 months ago but had £20k.

Possibly the right decision. Having just sold the X5 I’m unsure how long is last in the MY03 Mx5 that’s also on the drive!

Can’t help as 25k is way out of my league.

But it just goes to show that no matter what your budget it’s never quite enough for what you really want!

As has already been said, I’d wait a while and maybe save a little more if you’re able.

As above though £30-35k opens up a whole new set of cars rather than just newer/lower mileage versions of what you can buy at £20k.

I would say F-type V6 S manual too. But It seems out of budget.

25K is barely enough to get something really special. But the above count IMO.
