Hello

With the current economic situation and my own personal circumstance I feel a bit daft taking delivery of a new 840 GC and the monthly expenditure, nothing to show at the end, etc.

Whilst I haven’t cancelled my order yet, I probably will, and am thinking about what to buy instead.

With a £10-15k budget (3-5 year ownership), sub 70k miles, under 10 yo, I want large / auto, estate or 4x4 as house renovations will commence this year, plus camping and potentially children.

I have a convertible, a manual sports car and a bike so this is solely for the above boring duties and my commute.

At the moment I’m thinking of a facelift ML350 (2012 ish).

Nothing else is really grabbing my attention and I’m not interested in a new Dacia or something, I want comfort and some toys.

E350 CDI estate

Unless you need the raised seat height associated with an ML or similar I can't see why you'd have one over an estate?

If I had £10-15k burning a hole in my pocket, and liked the idea of a high-riding 4x4, I'd be putting my dosh into one of these, all day long:

Having driven a couple of second-gen MLs, I can tell you from experience they don't make you feel special like a Rangie does.

I'm biased, sure, having owned an L322, but I can think of few cars that make you feel like you're driving sixty-odd grand's worth of motor, which in reality, you paid a fraction of the price for.

Should have said not interested in any VAG cars, don’t like them.

Thanks ZX I will have a look through them.

If it’s an estate it would have to be petrol, which means no 4 pots, Vauxhall’s are just a no.

I would prefer a 4x4 as I miss my old Landy, they are easier to load things in / out of, easier to get kids in / out of, I would prefer 4wd and it might do a bit of towing too.

I want a FFRR, my wife wants one, but I just can’t, too many issues, too expensive, stupid tax, daft parts prices.

BMW X3 or you'll get a new shape X drive X1 towards the top of your bracket. Or a 2014-16 Volvo XC60.

If you like the RR then take a look at the QX's that have great spec & finish with sensible maintenance costs, the Jeep is another good option at this price point.

Estate wise there's the E350
