Caterham - much more raw/light but I doubt many wife’s will love it

Elise/Exige, the end.As an alternative viewpoint I've test driven both the Elise and Exile on multiple locations. On no occasion have i been bowled over.
As a very extreme daily i can see the value. It still has a roof etc
In reality as a weekend car that you rarely use i found the caterham far more exciting. Not owned one but borrowed it for months at a time.
To be fair it depends on what you want. If you want to track lap times and do a lot of track days the elise might be the correct tool. All i can say having tracked an S1 exige and a R300 caterham is that the lotus might ve fast but i'd always jump in the caterham

Depends on the specs...I have both sat downstairs from me now. The Lotus is the more exciting, engaging car..As a very extreme daily i can see the value. It still has a roof etc

The joy of the Lotus is you can make it anything you want it to be from useable daily to pure race car. A Caterham is a Caterham in many ways.

For what it's worth I own an Elise, and as a weekend toy I'd take the Caterham.

Non standard caterhams can be very fun too or even 200bhp straight from the factory. Plenty tour in caterhams. The lack of extra weight really adds to the fun for me.Though it ain't standard

Really? Which caterham have you owned and what tyres did it have? I’ve done 3000 miles on ZZS and they’re fine in the rain, very predictable handling where as a lotus is a lot harder to manage on the limit and more snappy. Year round. I’d much rather have a beer exige/cayman/evora for winter hooning.
