I’m considering a lease for the first time. How long does it take to actually get the car after deciding what you want?

Depends if its in stock (built and sat somewhere) or factory build.
In stock still has to be got from wherever it is to the supplying dealer, PDId, then got to you.

Paperwork goes through pretty quick if you return it all quick and the credit check goes OK.

Could easily be at least a couple of weeks to several weeks even if already built, especially right now. Mine has been quoted as about 10 weeks given uncertainty around Covid.
Factory order can be months.

Think I’d prefer a stock car to shorten the wait. I’m thinking of selling my two cars and buying something like a TVR for weekends, and leasing a Renault Zoe.

The process is really similar to buying a new car, in terms of timing. You pick a car - if it's in stock, you can get it really quick. If it's not, the lease company will order the car to your spec so delivery is dependent on manufacturer.

Be aware of mileage limitations. You might see, on the face of it a cracking deal but you are limited to 5,000 miles.

No good if you clock up 12,000 miles per year, at .12p mile excess mileage.

You can usually tailor the deal to suit you.

Mileage could be a big problem right now unless you are a key worker.

For anyone who isn't future mileage prediction depends entirely upon when we are going to be allowed out!

I would need it to be about 10,000 miles a year. The Renault Zoe deals I've seen do seem like cheap motoring, considering I'm probably loosing over £100 a month in depreciation on my Ampera.
