Nissan Qashqai....Petrol or Diesel?.

Ok....so i am considering buying a used Qashqai.....had a 1.5 diesel as a company car..loved it good driving position pulled nicely and good level of toys sensors etc....
Now looking to have one as the main family car but undecided as to petrol or diesel...
Had a 1.2 petrol as a service car once and felt it was underpowered ..significantly so.BUT the 0-60 is supposedly quicker?..
Not going to be doing loads of miles so no real need for massive fuel economy...
Budget around £10000 ...any thoughts?..anyone had both and a preference?.

Avoid the diseasel one if you can, they are known for having issues with batteries to the point the RAC have instructed their Techs to carry spare batteries for them as they have had so many issues with Qashqai's having knackered batteries.
Wife's 16 plate 1.6 diseasel had 6 batteries before we gave up with it. No, that really isn't a mis print, it has 6 batteries in 3 years. Oh and a set of glow plugs.
Nice car, don't get me wrong, but expect issues if you buy a diseasel.

Yeah only problem i had with the company one was......the battery....had it replaced after letting me down one rainy evening on the A1 but apart from that was impeccable...not another issue in 4 years....Wife's 16 plate 1.6 diseasel had 6 batteries before we gave up with it. Sorry if it offends but i just liked it....it did exactly what i wanted it to....drove really nicely...what can i say!,,,i liked it.....
Dacia Duster!,,,? yeah thanks i’m 57 not 77 ...and i don’t wear a hat...at least not in the car...and my wife’s name isn’t Beryl...
Any specific reason i should not have one?..

A senior colleague who I have been working with on and off for several years has been giving me regular bulletins about his disdain for his Quashqui 1.5DCI. It has let him down so many times with electrical gremlins. He’s sworn off Nissans for life.

He was also really disappointed when it turned out to be among the worst offenders in dieselgate.
What this means to me is that it appears to be a car with ever fewer redeeming features.

Had 1.2 tekna qashqai. Not overly frugal on long journeys and would regularly block change 6 to 3 for hills. Got us to to the south of france with a roof box on and apart from going up the mountains it was fine. Hope you enjoy changing gear. Avoid 19" wheels though.
Yeah as i said i found it really lacking in power...hence why i was looking at the diesel.....i could of course just go straight to the Jazz...miss out the next 20 years..?..seems sooo much love for them on here...had a 56 plate Nissan x-trail.... never will I get another Nissan.
it was a lease and the vehicle was terrible, it was an Aventura and was meant to be top of the range, but it was a pile of crap. cheap plastics crap leather and the 2.2 engine... three turbos and many batteries....
years later picked up a hire car at luton a qashqui and went to leave the car park. seat belt buckle released of its own accord. tried it again and it didn't lock so off hired it and took another make.
