Off the back of another thread I started this morn Fun to drive estate or suv I'm looking for suggestions on 'interesting' SUVs or Estates which:

costs <= £16k
has good storage for family holidays and general biking, kiting, canoeing, house renovation duties
has a bit of gravel and farm track ability
is interesting in some way, can be the design, the engine, the interior, a feature, an innovation, some model history, a slightly unknown spec or special edition etc.
is not a classic, ideally no older than 10 years
is not a diesel
is reasonable to tax and run

My other car is currently an e46 M3, and this will always be replaced by a good solid fast and driveable car. This just needs to be 'not the run of the mill'. That doesn't totally exclude Fords, VWs etc. but just needs an angle on them and not be the total norm. e.g. Skoda Superb Tour De France edition (although I think that was a diesel), the mighty BMW 550i Touring, can be tuned to be an M5 killer, Volkswagen Passat R36, who would have known, Vauxhall Insignia Country tourer, totally overshadowed by an A6 Allroad.

Hehe, that's my other post lol. Was a slightly differnt brief. I was looking for a drivers car in that one. Think we came to the conclusion that I wanted too much out of one car. So as I have an M3 as my other car, I'm dropping the need for it to be a drivers car. Still needs to have a bit of grunt, but can be more of a cruiser.

Some of the Volvos look interesting, running costs may be too high though, this particular one is a diesel but you get the idea.

They might not be within budget yet but the 5008 ticks quite a few of the boxes listed.

NIssan Stagea RX - 2.5 turbo 4wd is a quirky thing. Well within your budget.

A guy up the road has one; funny looking things but yes they do shift!

Haha. Ye Volvos are great. Had an 850R Estate a few years back and tuned the hell out of it but kept it totally sleeper/standard looking 850R. Sounded amazing at WOT.
