Should I just accept I'm unlucky
Discussion
I picked up a brand new Nissan Leaf early Feb. Two weeks later there was a major fault which meant I had to take it to the dealer. Three weeks passed whereby they tried to say they had fixed the car (they hadnt) and then Covid hit.
Roll on two months and they've reopened and now found the problem but parts are on back order with Nissan Europe and there isn't any estimate other than it could take a further 8 weeks?
Nissan HQ (with a little resistance) put me into a hire car for the whole period of time. Which Tbh is what I feel they should do and I feel I should be able to get a like for like not the gutless Qashqai enterprise is lending me.
Whilst I know a Leaf isn't a supercar or a fun car the whole new car ownership bit of getting a brand new car has definitely faded.
I don't know what I want from this post as I feel like other than the slow start to identifing the issue they had no control over the being out due to Covid and unavailability of parts but I just feel a little hard done by.
Some of my colleagues have said I should I asked for a new car.
So am I unlucky or should I have pressed the reject button sooner??

You have been unlucky in a way.
I got a brand new car a few years back, with a minor fault, which they fixed immediately when I took it to the dealer.
However, if I ever have a brand new car again and it has a major fault within the 30 days like you had, I would just take it straight back to the dealer, reject as unsatisfactory and get a refund.
