Daily drive & Road trip car

Hi,

Will be in the market for a new daily driver/road trip car in the next few months.

It will do around 12-15K per year milage and i would like something with an auto box & that wont ruin me with runnings costs so no V8 petrols i am afraid!

For holidays i like to do european roadtrips a couple of times a year and in the past i have used my Lotus Elise of which i still have but driving to the south of italy in august wasnt ideal to be fair but it was good fun!

I also do alot of MTBing so the ability to chuck a bike in would be a bonus but not a deal breaker as we have another car i can use for that.

Budget is 20K less would be better, i was thinking along the lines of a Jag XJ portfolio or a leggy R Sport the seem a little more fun that say a A8 or S class.

Porche panamera is also a consideration really like them inside even is the rear of them isnt the best but they are more expensive VS a Jag of the same year and down on spec.

Any others to consider?

driven the 640d and it was a great engine but dont like the image of the car, the XJ infotainment also put me off but the 2016 revision seems loads better so might be better looking for a higher milage one of those, the power gets upped to 300bhp too which is nice.

ive seen i can get a S8 in budget too worse on fuel for sure but the performance on tap and the spec does seem appealing!
