Undecided about a new car - Inspiration please!
Discussion
Hi all - as the title suggests, I need help with deciding on my next motor... I currently have a 2008 Golf GT TDI Sport (170bhp), which i'm looking to sell within the next few weeks. I also have a 2001 plate Yamaha R6, which to be honest, as much as I love it, I don't use often enough... so will sell that also, to put extra cash towards a new car.
I have 3 boys - one of which is in a booster seat (he's 9), and 2 younger ones in full size car seats (aged 2 & 3). Eldest sits in the front, youngest 2 in the back. I've often struggled with boot space in the golf to be fair. I still, for now, use a double pushchair, plus additional "child" luggage that comes with it.
I no longer need a diesel. I'd like something quick (faster than the golf at least!), to replace my motorbike urges! Something newer than the golf too, as I do like my toys and gadgets. That being said, I did own a Range Rover once and loved the sheer size and driving position... but I know maintenance with a big 4x4 will be pretty high. Budget is around £10-12k, so not a huge amount to choose from, I get that. Looking at keeping the car for a while, so don't want anything ideally with more than about 70/80k on the clock.
I previously had a 2015 Skoda Octavia vRS on lease before the golf, which ticked all the boxes, so am looking at another one of those. Though I felt it was lacking a bit in pace, it was the 180bhp Diesel version. Maybe the petrol estate version? I like the 335 estate Beemers, but hard to find one within budget. Looked at a few Range Rover Sports and Q7s, but I'm guessing for that kind of money, they will be dogs
I like C & E class Mercs, but only liked the 2015 onwards models, with the floating iPad style screen in the middle (told you I like my toys)
Any inspiration would be appreciated!

If you don't mind paying high road tax then this is a very good underrated pick:
Insignia VXR plenty of go with space for you & the boys handling wise these are in S4 territory & like the S4 make sure the Haldex has been serviced or negotiate it off the price.

Not as potent but the 2.0T Mondeo Titanium (look for ones with the XPack) 240

Infiniti M37 if you like your toys this has you covered but some aren't a fan of the looks, fit & finish is second to none they even have speakers in the seats!

Hybrid version of the above but this is quicker 0-60 cheaper on road tax but I'd have to change the wheels as the M37 above looks much better.

Lexus GS250 F Sport not quick but swift & a lovely place to be:
