3 litre Bmw 1 series
Discussion
Hi all,
New here, long time petrol head looking for some advice.
Ive been looking at bmws recently and the m140i caught my eye so i went and test drove one today and i quite liked it.
Im wanting some opinions on value more than anything really.
Basically its a january 2017 registered car.
Spec is:
Heated seats
Cruise control
Led headlights (was this an option?)
Parking sensors front and park
Professional navigation
Stereo is standard, how easy is it to upgrade? Sounded pretty crap tbh.
Car has 9000 miles, basically not a mark on it at all, i havent seen other examples but i couldent see a mark on it.
Car is 21.5k which i thought was a bit steep for it considering the kit? Or am i paying a premium for the mileage/condition? Obviously the car is now out of bmw warranty aswell, but its through a well known franchise who give 6 months free warranty for piece of mind.
Also on a side note, i dont really thrash cars down windy b roads, will this car be ideal for everything else, i.e roundabouts/cruising, accelerating quick on slip roads etc etc.

Your budget will get you a Shadow Edition, probably a 2018 car, maybe even a 2019 one if you stretch it a little and are prepared to travel.
Shadow Edition comes with HK sound system as standard as well as a lot of other niceties that would otherwise be options.
Dont buy a car without the HK sound with a view to trying to subsequently upgrade it. A lot of hassle and a lot of expense. Just get one with HK in the first place.
To be honest i think you're being charged a premium for the low miles.

Hmm you could be right, such a shame as the car is immaculate. Im trying to avoid 68 plates as they now have a ppf filter in thats the issue. Shadow Edition comes with HK sound system as standard as well as a lot of other niceties that would otherwise be options.

I'd definitely go for the spec you really want. Sounds is important to us too. The HK setup is excellent.

I drive a 150hp car. My ability and safety limit me on roundabouts. I out accelerate at least 90% of vehicles on motorway slip roads. At 70mph on a motorway engine is turning at 2050 revs & car is reasonably quiet. You will certainly be fine in a M140i.

Ill be wanting to fit a loud exhaust so to me the ppf thing is a big deal as you cant just get a cat back its a nightmare to make em sound loud.
Yes, then you'd want to avoid a PPF car.Look for one with HK and the options you want already fitted. That 2017 one sounds a little expensive.
RE: everyday driving. Great cars for that. A much better everyday all rounder than our previous A45.
Why the two accounts by the way? It looks like you set up a new account specifically to ask what seems like a civil enough question and a follow up to what you've already been asking?

Do they all come with dual zone climate control? This one has that though, and on a side note do they all have automatic headlights/wipers??
Jan 17 car does come with the advantage of defintely not having the VED hike, some (all when you get to a 340 as far as I can see) will. A slightly newer car might look better value but maybe not when you factor that in. There will be T&Cs that may exclude it but you could consider taking out the BMW warranty for peace of mind.

Has the OP got two accounts or am I missing something?
No, I don't think you are
“Long time lurker” stated in the first post but actually has another account.
Petrolsmasher recently started another thread on the same car here, he’s subsequently tried to delete the first post:
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
“Petrolsmasher” has now changed his name to “Tdidealer” too.
The original thread didn’t even end badly... why make a duplicate thread on a new account?
Another member, “R.Sole”, has been caught multiple times now but he seems to do it just to troll. Obviously it’s pathetic but I somewhat understand the motive.
Petrolsmasher on the other hand, seems to start genuine, advice seeking threads, so I don’t understand the need for duplicate accounts.
Can someone explain it to me?

Amusingly he has called himself "Anonymous-poster" now and is obviously denying using several accounts. How did he get caught again, I can't remember ? roadsmash said:
