£16k... what would you do?

Hi all,
Looking for some ideas that I may not have already thought about.
Criteria:
I’ll only be doing 5k a year. So fuel economy isn’t a MAJOR concern. I’m a single man, so 2 seaters are fine. Quick, relatively reliable, and won’t cost me the earth to service it. Must be able to do an occasional trip to Scotland from the midlands.
I had been looking at either a 987.1 Cayman S or an E92 M3. Just looking for some potentially left field options or anything else that someone may recommend.

I would suggest a Nissan 370Z.
I was in a similar position recently. Looked at alternatives - 987 Cayman, BMW Z4, Toyota GT86, Mazda MX-5, Audi TTS etc, but finally settled on the 370Z. It ticks all the boxes you highlight.
For me I wanted a sports/GT that was quick and reliable/relatively cheap to run but had space enough to travel (and bring the dog). I have the 7speed semi-auto which, whilst an auto and therefore the devil's own transmission, does suit the car well and on long runs is actually pretty good on fuel (over 30mpg).
Also, with it being a weekend car I feel confident that it can sit in the garage and will start first time after not being used (and not break down). Which is nice.

However for now I’d be keeping that £16k in my bank until there is more surety on the economic situation.
Unless you are a safe public sector worker then IMHO I don’t think anyone can say their job is 100% safe. Or if it is then the taxes workers will have to pay will be stepping up

Understand what you're saying buddy and i appreciate it. I however own my own business which has only benefitted from the current situation...I could potentially pick up a bargain ey!However for now I’d be keeping that £16k in my bank until there is more surety on the economic situation.

I’d be personally wanting a S211 E55 K or SL55 K or Aston DB7 v12 or an XJS 5.3 V12 cars that define eras and are without question epic cars. Porsche 928 GTS would be lovely but they are a step on in terms of cost to buy one - iconic car to me that one I remember it in “Weird Science” and it was the first car that I recall seeing leaving 11’s on the road it’s wonderful engine sound that seemed to rev forever and then it’s looks ... epic.
