Citroen C4 Cactus (2016) first car?
Discussion
Hi there. I passed my test around a year ago. I'm now looking for a car. I'll be doing a 100-mile motorway trip a couple of times a week and some local usage. I've looked at a lot of different cars mainly of the 'supermini' variety (A1, DS3 etc). I have mainly been looking at diesels because I prefer how they drive and for the fuel economy. I have seen a 2015 Citroen C4 Cactus 1.6 BlueHDi advertised by a private seller with around 70000 miles at 4900(seems good value?). It does not have the cool factor of some of the other cars I have been looking at but I like the way it looks and I'm starting to think its a practical, good value choice. Very economical and it should be able to put up with the motorway journey. It is in my budget as I am looking to spend 4500-6000.
So I guess my question is: Do you think it would be suitable for my experience and needs or should I go back to look at the more typical options. Thanks

The Cactus is decent at what it was built for & if you like it then go for it, with your annual mileage in mind I'd probably go for something with lower miles so I'd be further away from having to refresh components.
If insurance allows then I'd go for a 2.0d as they're more suited to motorway miles the smaller engine is fine but it'll be a more relaxed drive.
