Anyone had one?

Looking at SUV alternatives in the <7k range and they look to basically be a Golf on stilts.

I haven't had one but my parents have had two and really rate them. They had a head on crash when some chav thought it would be a good idea to look at facebook rather than the road. The attending policeman said the car stood up really well and prevented any life changing injuries. So they get my approval for that !

I guess they've had them for about five-six years, replacing the smashed one with a new one. Not one problem, it's been a good all purpose vehicle.

My SiL bought new 1.2 petrol DSG about 6 years ago.

Aside from servicing and tyres, nothing to report other than she still loves it.

My uncle has had two of them in a row, and made sure he got a high spec, later model as they were obviously dropped in favour of "SUVs"... They're a bit quirky but also really practical. I can see why they have a bit of a niche following.

Yes, my Mrs had one... one of the last model ones. Terrific car - cannot fault it.

I seem to recall that Top Gear rated them highly too. I think it's one of those cars where you can't really go wrong.

On slick tyres theyre faster round a racetrack than a Ferrari......and your icecream wont melt! Fact.

Got a 2017 1.2tsi dsg, it's good. Don't get one with a sunroof, they leak.

I had a 1.2 manual one for four years. Looks are subjective (I like it) but it drives well and is very practical. If you often carry a full load I'd get a bigger engine than the 1.2.

I had a 62 plate 110 BHP diesel for three years from new. Absolutely loved it, I thought it a shame when they facelifted it to remove the ‘frog eyes’ - lost a bit of character.

We had a 65 plate 1.4 TSI Laurin & Klement version for a couple of years and loved it. Reliable, economical with good driving dynamics. They are also very practical, with the rear seats set up individually and can be removed.

Try and get the later shape version.

Also look at the Ford Kuga/Kia Sportage as imo they're better cars.

My lease Yeti is going back soon.
Perfectly competent, though stop/start gets turned off every trip. DSG does like to change up pulling away from junctions.
Get just over 30mpg in city driving
Would have another.
