DVLA online service not available 7pm-7am?

I've been trying to transfer a Registration plate that i've been bought as a present onto one of our cars - have tried doing this online and get the message on the gov website "service unavailanle 7pm-7am".

Same story trying to transfer ownership of one of the other cars to the salvage company after an accident last week.

Is this normal?

It happened to me when I tried to assign a plate too.

The reason it happens is because the DVLA use really old computers (from the late '90s) and they need a rest each evening.

It is normal for some things.
Even pre-Covid.

Almost as if there was a human there. Silly thought!
