Long time lurker but looking at getting something a bit fun while it's still allowed and before we're all forced into EVs.

Seen a few BMW dealers offering PCP at 2.9% on an M4 Comp DCT with healthy dealer contributions in the past few days. At £529 p/m and £6k deposit these seem great value. An M4 for pretty much the same monthlies and deposit as an M2?!

Time to arrange a test drive I think... or am I missing something?

I'm guessing there's not going to be many customers around looking to get into a fairly chunky PCP agreement at the moment.

But a good time to take advantage, if you are.

In December, Strastone were doing these for £600 deposit and £600/month. Maybe worth pushing for a similar deal now?

New 4 series must be coming out soon, which might explain some deals - you might anticipate the deals getting better in the run up to release, and after (assuming old shape is still made and new shape M4 isn’t out at launch).

I would test drive them both before committing. They drive surprisingly differently considering how much is shared.

Thanks for the replies smile

Test drives in both is a good shout. I did see Inchcape have a £699 down, £699 p/m but this is slightly more expensive overall than a larger deposit and lower monthlies (although it's probably more to do with the amount of dealer contribution)

As for a new M4 on the horizon - I'm not a fan of the grill yuck or dials in the new 4 series so would be happy with the current model

The other option is a 18 months old M2C at around £40k although they have gone up over the past few weeks from around £38k. Find cheap money outside of BMW finance, perhaps at 3% and this may yield a decent saving overall, longer term.

Braver man than me taking on that deal at the moment, the M4 hasn’t exactly withstood depreciation well, just before a new one is due to be released I think you’d find yourself in negative equity for the entire length of the deal.

Whats the problem with that though? Surely the bulk of people take a deal like this to run it for the term? Most PCP deals will be upside down for most of the deal anyway.

A quick chat with the dealer and he suggested there might be nothing in it at the end.

Some of the stock cars come with the Ultimate Package - Retail is 71k - I believe the dealer contribution is 19k

Very tempted!!

You will be, but I think you just need to think of it as a lease (ie harder to get out of it you get bored). I imagine the VT point will pretty much be four years too.

If you’re in a pretty secure job and not too worried about the next few years it seems like a cheapish way to tool around in a shiny new M4.

The VT 50% marker might not be before the 4 year point depending on the manufacturers finance contribution - it makes up part of the amount financed.

If i were doing a deal on these i'd treat it as "leasing - with options". It seems a relatively cheap way in to a new M4, and yes, the new one will be along soon but i dont think there will be deals anything like this for quite some time.

Guessing it’ll be pretty close to 48 months.

I’d be tempted at those prices and wouldn’t be too concerned about the new one because it’s vile.

The new M4 wouldn’t concern me - the standard coupe isn’t available till October so the M4 could be this time next year (remember that the M3 isn’t available yet and how long has the new 3 been out?). Plus, in some areas (but not all), the new one will be a munter.

So the deal is real! Not many standard cars in stock to get the lowest payments but a few decent options and you're looking at £6.5k down and £600 per month. £19k deposit contribution and 2.9% APR seems too good to turn down.

I've had a quote at £567 with £5.5k down. This was a new stock car with the Ultimate package.

With some haggling I think you might be able to knock a few £ from the monthlies

You can buy a pre reg competition for 45k outright before a haggle.
