Golf gti edition 30? If you can get one in good condition with decent miles it could hold its value well.

If I was in the market, it would be a Fiat 500 Abarth.

Small light and lots of fun. Most modern hot hatches are cruiser things to me.

I would have one of those 5 pot focuses with a massive exhaust on though, for lairiness.

I'd take the Leon Cupra over the ED30 anyday.

Astra GTC VXR - yes a bit of a different suggestion but it drives very well, has more than enough performance is a pretty attractive car and weirdly there's not so many of them around

https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

Under £10k and enough space in the back for 2 grown adults never mind kids, driven lots of these on track and around that £10k pot it's what I'd be considering along with a Renaultsport Megane

Two car seats plus 500... interesting.

Golf 30/ Pirelli if you like the weird seats, a detuned 2WD R has promise, especially when mapped back up.

130i? Bit one dimensional, depends what you want really?

I have and i lived with it for 4 years which is 2 years longer than I lived with a Golf for, the Leon didn't feel as nice if you touched it but the steering wheel was nicer to hold, the seats were so much more comfortable and more importantly it didn't rattle like the Golf did.

wanting something a bit spicy mate, driving a 118d at the minute had it for years but not doing the miles any more, always fancied a type R there almost too much choice lol

This is something I've also been looking into.

What's so special about the Golf ed30?

Only reason I ask is that I noticed one for sale locally and did think it looked nice. But a 12 year old Golf with 80k miles for 8995? It just looks a tad expensive to me. Would that really hold its value?

There's also a 2003 Alfa 147Gta for the same price nearby. I'm not brave enough!

No votes for the mk7 Fiesta ST3?

How practical does it need to be?

You'll find it hard to find a car that will put more of a smile on your face than a Subaru Impreza WRX STI (in budget: blob eye).

However, thoroughly useless at the day-to-day stuff...
