Hi all,

In line for a new daily up to about 13k, I won’t be doing mega mileage so a petrol could be on the cards- probably around 20k miles a year.

Does anyone know much about these Renault Meganes?
My other half has an earlier 2011 and has loved it, never had any issues with it,

I like the fact you have economy and performance in a 1.6 which still seems pretty nippy with 0-60 in 7 seconds,

The GT also seems to have some good options and particularly like the large display iPad like feature inside,

What are these like or better alternatives ? I’m after something fairly sporty but still the convenience of a hatchback as a family car,

Thanks

They're good cars very nice inside & a decent steer but they're hard to find:

Other Alternatives:

308 GT these tend to be manual only so I'm not sure if that's a problem

As good as the above is I'd be buying it's GTI 270 brother instead

If you want an Auto then your options become more limited & normally mean haggling/stretching the budget.

Seat Leon FR Technology

Now doing 20k a year I'd probably go diesel & you can get some that'll still have plenty of go.

I’ve got a 205 TCe GT Tourer.
There’s nothing else petrol, DCT comparable spec at the price, but they are very rare (even as hatches).

Lots shared with Nissan (it’s the Juke Nismo engine) and so far a very good reputation for reliability. The fact that it has Renault Sport connection (I think Dieppe did the handling), alcantara, touch screen interface, LED lights etc is the icing on a very nice cake. I recommend.

You could get a decent Volvo V40 in that price bracket - https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202...

They are a bit more interesting that your normal contenders in the hatchback market, and despite being considered a more premium option, they're actually cheaper than something like a Golf when comparing spec.
