Which 5 series?

So I'm looking at possible replacement cars for my current one.
Narrowed it down to 5 series (or maybe E class) estate

Thing is I have maybe 5 or 6 grand for a budget and I'm sort of straddling models/variants

So which would you go for:

late E60 or early F10 5 series?

(and also late W211 E class or early W212?)

I'll narrow it down to a 5 or an E class later. just interested on opinions as to the differences between the model years in terms of reliability, build quality, known issues etc as I would have thought the older models would have had most of their issues rectified late in the model's life.

Early F10 just because it's simply much a better car. Not sure if 5/6k gets a decent one though. Which engines/versions are you looking at?

With your budget you're better off looking for either a W211 or E60 as to get a non leggy newer version of both will require more money.
