Trade miles away from retail? V-Class Merc
Discussion
I’m in the market for a sub £30k V-Class Mercedes to use for work, just a bit baffled by pricing at the moment. I’ve found one very local to me which is an ‘18 with just shy of 60k miles on it. Its a private sale and it’s the only one that new under £30k so seems good value on the face of it.
Putting the reg into WBAC comes up with an offer from them of £21k, which I’m assuming is trade.
If this car was on a forecourt I’d expect to see it up at early 30s so how is there so much disparity between trade and retail?

It's not a vehicle wbac have any desire for so they will bid you very low. They don't really want it so will bid very low, just try putting a tvr (or similar) in. The prices are rock bottom cos they don't really want them.
Someone might give you the proper cap prices for it if you are lucky....

You have to be desperate or lazy to sell to WBAC & no they're not trade money they're usually below trade, if you take that approach on any car the you won't be buying one.
There's been loads of threads on WBAC & similar. I happily traded a few quid for the convenience. (and it was just a few quid I reckon).Boobonman said:

Not unusual to have 5-10k across something like that, With Motorhomes £10k profit in a van is not unheard of as you might have it for 10-12 months before it selld. God knows how long that would sit around for and being an 18 it is still deprecating every month which is something else you need to factor in when buying.Putting the reg into WBAC comes up with an offer from them of £21k, which I’m assuming is trade.

Don't listen to the retards on here that think WBAC is no good because they were once offered £50 for a Fiat X19 or similar. For stuff under 10yrs old WBAC is usually bang on trade money (sometimes even a smidge over!)

Exactly this. Although a regular V-Class usually carries a typical margin for an executive passenger car, whereas a Marco Polo would carry a motorhome type margin, which as you rightly say is significantly more due to a much smaller demand and average length of time in stock, having sold those for a couple of years. A fair share of the company's stock was the same on the day I left as the day I started, but a few things came and went before they ever hit the forecourt. Funny business, that.Edited by 4941cc on Thursday 2nd July 18:04

t hit the fan then you could just sell it privately at a lower price to get it moved on.
