Need some pointers
We've just sold my mums house as she's downsizing to a ground floor bungalow. Shes 73 and had a knee replacement a few years back. It's not been that successful and she's starting to struggle with stairs and using the clutch on here little mazda 2. We bought it new back in 2010 and it does what she needs it to do including taking the knciks on the wall while she's parking it on the drive :lol:
Looking to replace it with an auto of some kind. Ideally something where she is sat up in the car rather than down in it. She only does shirt journeys so a petrol possible consolation hybrid/electric. Something that's had the initial hit off the forecourt. Not marque blinded and looking for something that's value for money I guess. Including trade in value and cash ideally no more than 15k budget albeit there is more available if need be.
Any help and advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm not a fan of this style of car myself, but something like a SEAT Arona might suit her better. It's basically a jacked up Ibiza but might be good for both getting in and out of, and driving position. There are also plenty with the automatic box.

Thanks to you both. I've been looking on manufacturers websites and very few seem to be offered with an auto option which shocks me, I must be doing something wrong.
I'll check those out, I'm not fussed nor will she be on what make or model it'll be down to the seating position. Think she's best to be sat up (no so much high) if that makes any sense.

My mother-in-law had much the same issue, best bet is to go and sit in lots of cars to see which works best for her.
The MIL settled on a Mercedes B-class which was/is ideal for her.
She is currently considering swapping to a Renault Zoe which offers a higher H-point relative to similar sized cars, probably because of the batteries underneath raising the seat height.

If she doesn't mind something nearly new rather than brand new I'd look at the last if the Kia Vengas. They made them up to 19 plate and there are plenty of autos around with decent spec.
We have the almost identical Hyundai ix20 as our family car and it's been excellent. Great value for money, dead easy to drive, spacious and airy with good visibility and you sit high. It's comfy too.
But in your position I'd go for the Venga as it's a bit better equipped and I think there are more autos to choose from.
