Infiniti brand,service and Q50, need help

Hi!

I've been looking for a car for a while. Most reasonable model seems Q50(Automatic gearbox) to me. It looks better than it's rivals(just my personal opinion), it might has worse interior but the problem is I can get 2013 or 2014 model BMW, Mercedes Benz or a Lexus while I can get a 2016/2017 Infiniti Q50 Sport for the same price,
but I'm afraid of service availability and service/part prices because this brand is only popular in USA also they are no longer in operation in the UK. I guess it's one of the least advertised brands on AutoTrader so that's an another negative thing. I will probably be using it for minimum 2 years so reliability is important, probably more reliable than German rivals as Japanese cars popular with their reliability.

Any Infiniti users? Any suggestions?

Good friend of mine has a Q50 on a 16 plate and is currently struggling.
Whole centre console has died, and so far the dealerships that are continuing Infiniti support haven't had the upgrades.

We live in Leicestershire, he's been told he can go to Bournemouth or Newcastle, but Birmingham will be online soon...

I had read that Nissan dealerships were taking on the work but that doesn’t appear to be the case.

Thanks, I'm living in Wimbledon,London so there are 3 close(inside a 20miles circle) authorized service points. Not that bad, I guess?

They are complex, mostly unloved cars. If you plan on keeping forever and can spanner a bit I think you will be ok, but that gap in residuals will only get wider as time goes on.

I have an Aunt & cousin running Q50h's & another family member with a Q30 Sport, I have also supplied a number of cars to clients.

In regards of servicing they havent had any issues but we have a Nissan service centre that's able to look after Infiniti's, here's the thing unless you're looking at the Hybrids then any decent Indy will be able to service it because they use the same drivetrain as the C/E Class (as in engine/gearbox brakes etc are all Mercedes) which makes them easy to service.

It depends on where you are in the UK as to where your nearest service centre is.

I know a Q50 that's up for sale. It's been maintained meticulously and in a recent inspection the only issue was a bit of rust on the exhaust. Only issue is it's the 2.0T rather than the 3.5h, but I can send you the details if you're interested?

I was looking at one as cheaper than 3 series like you said but didn't buy it ....i'd avoid buying one to be honest especially with withdrawal of Infiniti from UK/EU

Most Infiniti dealers were turned into Nissan Service Centres as I said unless your buying a hybrid then any Indy who services Mercedes can service them because they're the same running gear & in the case of the Q30/QX30 they're exactly the same car as the A/GLA Class apart from the sheet metal.

They're really good cars my aunt is averaging 35mpg & her commute takes her into Central London 4 times a week so I think that's decent mpg for 3.5 V6.

The Q50h is properly quick not the most communicative but a swift nice set of wheels especially soec wise they pretty much come with everything.

There's another properly quick Q50 & that's the 3.0TT 400bhp model but these are rare.

I had a diesel sport for a couple of years. Comfy, good looking and was reliable enough. Servicing was expensive through the Infiniti network (£360 or so for the 2st service) but that included them coming to get it from my place of work, servicing it and dropping it off that afternoon.
I really liked the interior the stereo was good (Bose) but not the most intuitive to use and I thought build quality was excellent. Pretty roomy in the front and at 6ft5 I still didn't have the seats all the way back. Rear space was adequate but not massive. Big adblu tank in the boot meant a surprisingly shallow boot but it was my 1st and only saloon so I have nothing really to compare it to.

The electric steering made for a very relaxing but a bit boring drive. It understeered like crazy but to be honest it wasn't a car to hussle anyway so I only tried once or twice. It's not what I would call exciting.

Very rare to see another on the road which I liked. In 20k miles I probably only saw another less than 20 times. And often got a wave from other drivers.

The auto box on the diesel was horrible at low speed, had too many moments of it being dimwitted on roundabouts leaving me close to be in trouble. I complained to infinity but apparently it was normal. I'm not convinced mine wasn't faulty though.

Depreciation was horrendous but mine was leased so I didn't care.

It always felt like a really big car to me but the stats suggest it's not much bigger than anything else in its class.

Overall I liked the car for the job it had to do at the time (motorway commute). Would I have another? Maybe consider a hybrid but not the diesel.

Yep from what I've seen with the ones I've supplied as well as the ones owned by family & friends the electrics don't seem to be any more of an issue than any other modern day car, also these share Mercedes electricals (which in truth makes them no better or worse) most modern cars can have issues I have two customer with 2020 VAG cars & both have lost their dash displays the dealers are doing their best to resolve the issues but no car maker is immune from electrical gremlins.
