Is it possible to get a good deal on a new MX-5?

Local dealer appears to say no.

A high RRP and lack of deal is making a difficult proposition to swallow.

Use Carwow, I got 15% off list (£4,117) this time last year without trying too hard, and some odds and ends chucked in free. Supply was constrained then but luckily someone had the model and colour I wanted in stock. The discounts were such that a 1 year old used car made absolutely no sense at all - I can't imagine the world has suddenly gone mad for new MX5s given the big price hikes they had this year so taking a car from stock or from the channel is your best bet to get a good price.

Consider getting them to chuck the mazda lowering springs in for free if you get one, they get rid of a lot of the body roll and seem to have only a small impact on ride quality. They are Eibach springs but in a Mazda box.

Wait a few months and see what happens. Unfortunately the country is going into a recession. Look at what’s happening with companies laying off staff and I think this will just be the tip of the iceberg.

Manufacturers are trying to bolster prices by restricting supply. That will only work for so long.

Interesting viewpoint and one that I hadn't considered.

My job means that I'm entitled to the 15% automatic discount, great if I were a cash buyer but can't be used in conjunction with the 0% offers at the moment.

Did you get anything decent from Carwow? I had a search for a Mazda 3 and the discounts are very small, and they don't appear to be throwing money at you as a "dealer deposit contribution" anymore either.

Maybe sit on it for a few months and see what happens.
