Best way to part ex for M2?
Discussion
how do people do the old, "use the finance deal to haggle the purchase price down, then get a cheaper bank loan and pay it off immediately" thing.....
i'm not a homeowner, a few years ago i took out a 20k 3 year loan at 3% to help buy my car, got about 12k left, no issues, credit rating all good etc.....
but i dont see how i could take out a finance deal on a 28-30k car and then get approved again for a an £18-20k bank loan (after a £10k deposit at the dealer).
i dont want to pay dealer APR, which at 10.9% is silly.
(i'm thinking of swapping my 440i for an M2 which are now at the magic 30k figure for me).

Haggle them down however you want and then pay cash, i've done this before, offer was at 8.9% I think, asked to pay cash, they then offered 4.9%, still too high id like to pay cash, if its the difference between walking away or letting you pay cash most will accept the cash, but....
If the deal includes a dealer contribution only when taking finance, my last dealer purchase was like this - take the finance then
1. apply for a loan - you'd be surprised at the amounts you'll be accepted for - monthly affordability plays a massive part.
2. if you think you wont get approved or have tried and don't, ring the bank (loan provider) tell them the loan is to clear the finance not guaranteed but will improve your chances
3. keep the finance
