So many cars for sale private then appearing in dealers
Discussion
I am seeing cars which I am interested in buying then dealer are picking them up and putting them up for sale for £2k more.
This car was for sale 2 days ago for £35k in Southampton then is now in a dealer down the road for £37k.

At first I thought it was just my imagination, but dealers must be really struggling for stock and just overpaying for cars as the market is so strong.

Yes. I was in Hendy Sports at Poole just having a chat the other day. They were saying everywhere is short of stock, even offered to buy mine for a decent price. Popped to BMW in Wallsidown Rd, hardly anything on the forecourt, same with Mini.
Norman Motors are okay though. £2K more would give you a warranty and peace of mind, plus they might move on the price.

I've tried to sell 2 cars upwards of £15k privately in the last couple of years. I didn't get one genuine call but a couple from dealers who stated "we can sell your call for you in our dealership". They weren't overpriced but i was told that trying to sell over £15k or indeed £10k privately is quite hard and i should consider their offers. I never went further into asking how much but i know of a high end dealership near me that charges £1k to sell your car.
Perhaps this is what is happening

Yup. Hes probably doing quite nicely out of it. I'd say hes picked that up for £34K or less. Added +£3K and he'll hold out for the asking price. Maybe get a nice trade in too. This car was for sale 2 days ago for £35k in Southampton then is now in a dealer down the road for £37k.
