Range Rover or Pathfinder?

Should i spend about 3K on a Range Rover (L332) or a Nissan Pathfinder as a rural run-about? About 10K miles a year.
The running about takes place in a part of Devon briefly discovered when roads were first-paved, then forgotten ever since. We thus abound in pot-holes in which you could lose a lose a MAMAL - if only - albeit the holes are only visible for 8 months of the year. The rest of the time roads are 5 - 50 cm deep in water.
Essentially, is the the RR enough better (when working) to be worth its much greater unreliability, and the associated costs? I have some other fun things to drive, so neither needs to be my main source of motoring happiness. The priority is avoiding new sources of worry and frustration, though i remain open to the possibility of daily pleasure.
Trying to answer this for myself with Google, and this forum, it is hard to get an accurate sense of just how unreliable RR they are. But probably pretty bad.
Other 4x4s have been considered, at length, to get back to this head-to-head. The runner up is an X5, which loses on load-space.
My thinking is the Pathfinder. A tool that works. Move on.

Had never heard of an Antara - looks more OAP, rather than outdoorsy!
(Only Vauxhall that has ever appealed is a 30-98 Wensum.)
Landcruiser at that price would have to be a Colorado; should have bought an Amazon a few years ago. Colorado is narrow, getting old, and not quite the full deal in terms of reliability.

If you get a a diesel RR you’ll avoid the cooling system and gearbox issues of the 4.4, so you’ll have a chance. At that money they’ll be needing suspension work and you may encounter the common steering column failures. If you have a 1.5K bork fund and don’t mind fixing stuff yourself they’re OK. I’d have another if I had a spare car (which I do). But 10K a year? Stuff will break. Oh yes, the transfer box pot will be about to die, easy DIY fix if you have a couple of hours and don’t mind cutting, plastic welding etc.
If you don’t like spannering, don’t get one IMHO. Especially don’t get a 4.4 petrol at that age.

That's my thought with these - they dropped to shed money (or near enough - sub £2k and more) when that was a bit of a 'fresher' discussion, but they seemed to have crept back up to £3k+I assume people have got over it of simple forgotten. RFL is crazy on the 06 onwards ones imo.
