Having both had SLK's (me R171 SLK55, Mrs Iroc a R172 SLK250D) Mrs Iroc is seriously thinking about getting a 'Final Edition' in Yellow

I realise that the Z4 is likely a sportier car and the TT has the reputation of being damn well screwed together - but neither are, in our eyes, as attractive. The old SLK Mrs Iroc had was used more like a tourer than a sportscar so performance is really an issue (and for nice rumbley noises there's still the Camaro).

The concern, such as it is, is that we'd be dropping back down in size from a GLC (albeit we don't *need* the extra room)...

I quite like the SLC. I would go for the basic manual car as the higher end models look poor value for money (IMO). I'm sure it is a lovely car to own and drive.

That’s the best looking car they do at the moment, I’d have one.

You're probably all over this already, but great discounts to be had from broadspeed.com and their ilk

Well a bit of too-ing and fro-ing and the decision was made - I agree with an earlier poster who said that the higher priced versions don't seem to be as good value, but we're confirmed slush-box fans so the 9sp auto it is.

The only colour for us was the yellow - really pops (hard to lose in the car park! hehe ). Can't say that the deals was the *absolute* best, but we're happy with it (I think at this point we're looking at a difference of c.£500 which is not dreadful.

If Mrs Iroc wants one then get one:

200

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/new...

300

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/new...

If the Mrs can live without the final edition & the Yellow then a nice low mileage high spec SLC43 is in range:

2019 SLC300 AMG Line in a rare colour

If you want a bit more practical then there's the E300:

Get her the one she wants (of that you can talk her round too wink ) & everyone will be happy.

I hope it had a decent specification rather than the usual paupers version which luckily for you I think only applies to the 200 Final Edition version i.e. no Hardon Karmon ICE u-grade/analogue clock atop dash coaming/electric memory seats/electric folding mirrors/alternative to silver effect centre console & door trim.

.....and why is it that men make such a big deal about emphasising that the Mercedes SLK/SLC is "for their wives/Mrs"? What are they scared of?

Whatever, enjoy & lovely to see a Mercedes in a bright cheerful colour, rather than taking itself so seriously with their executive funeral blacks & endless silvers & greys

in this case it IS for Mrs Iroc (I've got a 2013 Camaro SS in orange biggrin ), but I'll have not issues with people thinking it's mine - looks like a cracking car!

Poverty spec it is not BUT it won't have the HK ICE upgrade/reversing camera/folding mirrors (though it does have memory seats, essential, parking sensors etc). Like you said the other thing was yellow - God's honest truth here had the only choice been black/silver we wouldn't have bought it.
