Mid to large barge?? 6-8k

Hi all, looking to purchase a new car ( new to me anyways ) . But stuck on what to go for.
Previously had a GS300 a loved it done everything I wanted, currently have a A4 can bought for a bit of fun but reality It's just not me. So back to something bigger, auto, comfortable, etc. But no idea so any suggestions

S class
Jaguar XF 3.0 diesel
But any other suggestions?

I've looked at both I like the idea of the infinity but with them pulling out of the UK I would worry about part etc. Volvo o like but put off by horror stories re the geartronicInfiniti M 3.0d

I've had all that you are considering and in this very budget, currently in an XF which will be up for sale soon, once I get its replacement sorted.
All excellent cars in their own right, S-class most comfortable (unsurprisingly), E-class rides fine as long as its not AMG or Sport spec. My current XF is running on the smallest 17" wheels for the aforementioned reason also.
Engine/gearbox wise all very, very similar, 8spd box in XF can be a bit indecisive - almost like its got too many gears and decides dropping down one cog isn't enough so drops down a second time.
I prefer the dash layout and functionality afforded by proper a/c controls and thumbwheel for the screen in the Merc's over the XF touchscreen setup.
All have been completely reliable in my ownership, no additional spend over and above routine servicing and wear&tear items such as brakes and suspension arms.
I'd try and drive them back to back or at least within a few hours of each other to see which you prefer.
I'd also throw the 3.0tdi A8 into the mix.

Parts aren't an issue as the drivetrains are common the 3.0d is found in a lot of Nissan's/Reanault Vans & you can order the parts direct from Nissan.The Volvo needs the fluids changing around every 40k at which point it's actually reliable it's because Volvo were originally saying these were sealed for life.

What about another GS? The hybrid models (450H?) seem to have quite a bit of get up and go when you need it.
