Bought a car, still not ready
Discussion
I bought a used car last week on the 22nd, took it for a test etc, all good so agreed to purchase. Paid a 500 deposit initially and the dealer asked me to complete a bank transfer in the next couple of days before collecting it. I've done that and yesterday called up to see about collecting it. Still not ready. I mean, I appreciate they might be busy but a fresh mot and valet shouldn't take this long. Yes, I am probably being impatient but still...
Dealers used to just take a debit card payment on the day you collect.
But now the banks have added charges to those, many dealers ask for bank transfers before the car is collected.
I don't like this at all.
And your situation enforces why I don't like it.
They've got your money, doesn't matter to them if they delay you now.

If I'd actually paid for a car, "it's not ready" would not be good enough. I'd absolutely want to know why it's not ready and when it will be (and in fact, would not have paid in the first place if a collection date hadn't been agreed).
I’d agree with that. Car I bought recently from a dealer was paid for on collection.Gassing Station | Car Buying | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
