HELP - New Car Dilemma

Hi I’m looking for some help with my new car. I currently own a B7 Audi A4 Avant tdi 170 which I bought as a cheap as chips car at the start of the pandemic when I was unemployed. I love it because it’s practical, cheap to run, gets 50mpg + on a sensible motorway run, but it’s old, I’ve now bagged myself a good job and therefore it’s time for something fun.

Budget is flexible depending on how special the car is but I have to consider that I’m doing 1400 miles a month at the moment with 900 of those being business miles. For example yesterday I test drove a B8.5 RS4 in top spec which was really very special (https://www.hamptonsofsurrey.co.uk/audi-rs4-avant-fsi-quattro-in-surrey-6577903) I LOVED it but I think it’s just too special as a daily and to turn up to meetings/sites in for work. I also tested a MK 7 golf r (https://www.ellahimotors.co.uk/used-volkswagen-golf-bassingstoke-hampshire-2942923 ) which was a lot of fun but didn’t feel special with the standard wheels and awful grey/black cloth interior. I also struggle with the thought of spending 17k+ on one with leather and Pretoria’s. S3 8P/V
B8/8.5 S4


Requirements Are:
Must sit 4 adults comfortably
Cruise control
Start stop is preferable
Bluetooth connectivity

Do I get keep the B7, daily it and get an RS4 for the weekends?

Congrats on the new job mate!

Unless you have the cash to pay for the new car in full, my advice would be to keep your current car until you get a feel for whether you like your new job and whether you think there will be any job security.

Firstly your biggest cost on an RS4 with that annual mileage will be depreciation the smart move is to keep your A4 & get a weekend toy.

Also what do mean by the Golfs AWD makes it a preferable daily? If you have good tyres on both then the BMW will not have anymore traction issues than an R unless your driving to provoke a reaction.

I think a weekend toy is preferable when it comes to the RS. As for the Golf vs M140i, when I test drove the M140, I could feel the rear end was a bit skittish under hard acceleration whereas the Golf felt planted. Also cheers mate, I didn't see those replies on that thread! I'm a bit narrow sighted who it comes to the big name German cars, although I'm sure those i30N's and the Peugeots etc are amazing motors, they're just not for me.

Some sound advice. Luckily job security is looking good as the industry is booming at the moment. I've got two months left of my probationary period and once that's over I'll make a final decision on a car.
