Morning all,

I've just started a new job with a 32 mile round trip commute, and while it's not crazy miles, I'd like something a bit more modern than my 2002 focus to do it in.

I don't have much in the way of criteria, but I'd like it to have a nice interior, not be a turd to drive and get more than 40mpg average. 2k is my budget.

I've considered a MK7 fiesta and it would do the job but I'd like some more input from y'all to see if there's anything I've missed!

Suzuki Swift Sport. Reliable, economical, nippy, and fun to drive.

Or the boring answer: stick with the Focus. I'm in a similar boat to you with my S-reg 306. I keep looking to upgrade it, but it's more than capable of what's asked of it and it never goes wrong.

Civic 2.2ctdi? Loved mine and averaged 48mpg on commute. Comfortable interior too and if in EX trim has all the bells and whistles you'd need. Just check the clutch - susceptible to slipping.

Swift sport is a good shout actually!

I'd keep the focus but it's on its last legs. It's half rust and what's left is falling apart. It's done me well though.

SAAB Turbo petrol or Diesel, thank me when you sit in the heated seats for your winter commute smile
