M2 CS (Man Maths)

I got a phone call from my local BMW dealer offering me an M2 CS - (I had been on the waiting list but told I wouldn't get a car)
Since then, my circumstances have changed massively - and we have invested in a new family car, and can no longer afford 2 fast depreciating assets

Based on BMW's figures, an M2CS will retain approximately 40% of its value after 4 years. Now for the Man Maths bit
If the car holds it's value significantly better than that - then I can count the monthlies as a (Very Expensive) savings scheme. If the value is value given by BMW is roughly correct, then there is no way I could justify the expense (And if anyone on PH wants a build slot - Without the huge mark up they can take it!)

What are the opinions on these?

If you want a savings/investment scheme then set one up, if you fancy the CS instead then get that, neither is a like for like replacement for the other.

Yep daft idea. You can either afford it or you can't. Sounds like you can't.

With regard to the figures you have been quoted. I traded in a M2 last week which was over 4yrs old and returned over 56% of the initial purchase price when new. Granted the car was low mileage. But I can't really see a CS performing worse?

I'd look at the M4CS which trades mid 40's after 2 years and 10-15k if you fancy a CS, more bespoke interior than the M2CS with more power and torque with a unique CS engine map not just the standard m4 comp one as per the M2CS.

I think you're taking the investment comment too seriously. Ultimately what I'm saying is that it wold break my hear to see a car depreciating by £1000 a month for the limited mileage I'll be doing. I'm not one of these people who buys a car to make money - but at the same time - Much as I l would love to own, drive and enjoy one - there needs to be a balance!

The M4CS just doesn't do it for me - I've been looking at Alfa Romeo Guilia QF's at a bit less, and that's where my money was going to go - but getting the offer of the M2 CS made me think twice!

If you can afford it buy it.....you introduced the "investment/saving" term we can only respond to what you write, no one knows what it'll be worth but it'll be worth a lot less than you paid but that's the game.

The M2CS is expensive and no one knows what the market will decide until it does but every other CS has lost bucket loads from new so there is your marker.

If you want one get one as for it's value no one really know but if you want something that's done the worst of it's depreciating then I'd say take a good look at the M4 GTS:
