Hi all,

I’m currently in an F30 330d with a remap (331 bhp and 500lbft) which I’ve owned for just under three years.

It’s great but I’m completely bored of it now and my annual mileage has dropped from 20k a year to around 10k.

I’m thinking I want something with more than four cylinders and petrol.

I have a five month old so need a boot a pram can fit in but there is only three of us in the family and it will be like that for a good few years so don’t need anything huge.

I’d like running costs to be sensible but I’m happy for them to be 30-40% more than the 330d.

I keep looking at the M140i but what else is out there?

Thanks in advance.

In similar shoes myself, M140i is growing in temptation by the day.

Sorry for the sidetrack, but can I ask where you got the remap and how that's been?

Does a 435i squeeze into budget?

GKR Performance in Oswestry, Glen is well known in BMW circles. It’s been faultless in 12,000 miles over the last year.

It is as fast as an M140i now give or take but I just fancy something more exciting.

The only think putting me off an M140 or a 4 series is I’ve been in an F30 now for the last four years and I’m getting a little bored on the interior too.

My M140 was underwhelming for me. Very average sounding for a straight six, yes it rifled through the many ratios quickly but never felt like a sporty engine, more like a very powerful diesel in fact. Putting the power down in anything other than ideal road conditions was also tough.
Audi RS3 all day long if you can find one at £20K and if the early ones aren't that low an M3 V8 saloon for £17,000 would be my choice.

Plus with an M3 V8 the car will hold value from now on, already they have bottomed out and rising slowly.
4 litres of 8,250 rpm V8 will always feel and sound better than anything else at the price.

Have a drive in an Audi S5. An APR remap stage 1 remap will see it running 450bhp without any hardware changes.

Thanks guys.

I’ve decided to scrap the sensible running costs and I’m going to view a facelift C63 tomorrow.

I’ll update this thread and let you know how I get on.

Man maths at its best.

I did a deal on a late 2011 C63 125 Edition.

Totally standard 38k mike car with full service history and it is literally immaculate.

I collect it on Friday so I’ll get an ownership thread up when I collect it.
