Towbar car but must be fun...

Hi Guys,
This has probably been asked a million times so apologies if it's an old discussion.
Anyway, I've currently got a Volvo V90 with a tow bar.. I only use the towbar to carry bikes.
Due to covid I'm doing a lot less miles and it looks like I won't need a car as big as the Volvo going forwards, so I'm thinking of changing it for something a bit more interesting.
Initially I thought about a Golf GTI but I don't think you can have a Towbar on them...
So, what suggestions would you offer? It needs to be practical but not as practical as the Volvo.

why cant u have a tow bar?
largely depends on what you are towing (although in your case not towing)
- why'd you need a towbar for bikes? cant you just use a bike rack or roof bars?
I've recently been through the whole towbar thing and ended up changing a perfectly good small SUV just to tow.
Todays hybrid, electric, light weight, small engined, turbo powered cars are just not made to tow anything.
Wife wanted to stay with an SUV type car and we struggled to find one that also wasn't huge and expensive.and wasn't 10+ years old.
but you surely should be ok with pretty much anything as long as its not electric/hybrid and just bikes.

Anything that doesn't have central exhaust tail is somewhere to start...

My wife's Mk7.5 Golf GTI has the factory fitted towbar. It fold's out from under the bumper, so I'm sure it can be done. We use it for a bike rack and small camping trailer for the tip run. Works great. I like the fact it actually draws a little trailer behind the golf on the internal displays, which is cute, when you have it connected. It also sets the alarm off, if the car is armed and someone disconnects the trailer.
You might not get these features on an aftermarket one, but for a bike rack you would be fine I'm sure.

You might be thinking of the Golf R, which I think couldn't.The tow-bar fits I understand, besides having to make a cut in the bumper, however it's just not approved for towing.

I believe the 'central exhaust' thing is related to whether it is homologated for towing.
I would like to occasionally tow with my E46 M3, but given that it isn't homologated then it's a no no.
Some people have fashioned their own tow bar mountings, which nominally 'work' but I expect you might be on a bit of a sticky wicket if you cause an accident whilst towing with one.

Subaru Impreza WRX, I know older blob, hawk eyes etc could have one.
208 GTi by Peugeot Sport, when enquiring the salesman said they can fit a towbar and it’s therefore type approved. Would need double checking but a small hatch is practical and the PS is a serious little bit of kit.
